Google is your friend. Here is what Focusrite says about it. My Focusrite 18i20 doesn’t have this function. If I did have this function I would probably be more tempted to try it on overheads on airy tracks using overheads, kick and snare (room permitting), but a bit of experimentation will tell you more. Since this function seems to ‘enlarge’ sound a bit you might want to play with placement of your overhead mics or pan them less than completely right/left to see if this makes things a little ‘beefier’.
