FFT newbie – bins organisation (in: DSP and Plugin Devel…)

I have started to play with FFT using pfft bitbucket.org/jpommier/pffft/src.
Now trying a simple thing which is amplifying one of the bin. My plugin has a control for selecting the bin and another one for the gain.
Problem is it gets all messed up when I play with the gain.

I am wondering whether I understand correctly the organisation of the bins…
