Feature suggestion: MQTT and Azure functions conne… – Qlik Community

Hey team Qlik,

Over the past few months I’ve come across some scenarios where the connectors couldn’t quite do what was needed. Figured I’d send the list to you, of possible inclusion in the backlog.

Yes, I do realise the list of possible connectors is VERY large, but some feedback on what would be useful is always good, right?

  • Azure serverless functions. Similar to the AWS Lamda connector. Would allow those use Azure a good way to call out from Automation scripts.
  • Generic MQTT connector. Same rationale as above, but for pub-sub scenarios. MQTT is lightweight, scalable and robust. It’s generally way easier to implement compared to bigger pub-sub tools (which would also be useful as connectors). Would allow for de-coupled communication between Automations and other systems out there, both Internet connected ones and those behind corporate firewalls.

Especially the MQTT connector could offer a super-easy, yet powerful way for automations to talk to on-prem systems. It would enable use cases where actions in company-internal systems that are not (and must not be) exposed on public Internet could be triggered from App automations.
