Exporting from Ableton with Digitakt as audio interface – Digitakt

Okay, I’ve been asking around in other places, done a lot of look-ups, but I am probably (still) missing something. Since I let go of my Focusrite Scarlett, my Ableton exported files sound softer than at any time before in the process. I’ve done a lot of A/B referencing and the like, using loudness meters and such, to make sure that my most recent track, made on the Digitakt, is up to snuff. It is throughout the process within Ableton.

But when I export it, it loses quite a bit of its volume, compared to other tracks (either from references or my own made earlier). I have to turn up the volume on whatever device much more than on other tracks I’ve made previously to hear it properly.

Am I missing something or do I have to do something differently:

  • Is there a volume setting I need to check (besides Windows of course, which is at 100) somewhere on the Digitakt? Does the Main have to be at max, for instance?
  • Do I have to have the Digitakt plug-in active when I export?
  • Are there other volume settings somewhere in Overbridge/Digitakt plug-in I am not aware of?
  • Do I need to render in real-time with the External Audio Effect method? or
  • Do I need to resample and record in real-time?
  • Anything else I could be missing?
