What’s the octave playing technique?
Jazz guitarist Wes Montgomery, one of the greatest improvisers and jazz masters of all time, popularized the octave playing technique on guitar, which has become significant part of the language of jazz guitar.
The concept is simple, it is to play lines with two notes played simultaneously and separated by an octave (12 semitones).
In the study proposed in this blog post, the same octave pattern (F, Ab, B) is played all along the progression and interspersed by the chords previously discussed.
