Dehli Musikk Elektrisk Salmesykkel
Elektrisk Salmesykkel is a Yamaha L-20D electric harmonium: a reed organ with a motor-driven blower in place of pedals. The reeds were sampled in stereo across the full range, along with the mechanical noise of the keys going down and coming back up.
The controls follow the instrument. A loudness control sets how much air reaches the reeds. The swell chambers for the diapason and viola reeds can be held open, held closed, or opened gradually with the modulation wheel. There is a tremulant with depth and rate, a level for the key noise, and a reverb offering a short home room and a long church, both taken from a Chase Bliss Audio & Meris CXM 1978.
The plugin adds an emulation of the shared air supply. On the real instrument every reed draws from the same blower, so the more notes you hold, the less air each one gets. Hold a large chord and the volume drops, the top end softens and the attack slows; release notes and the air recovers as quickly as the real blower does. It affects only the reeds, never the key noises, and it can be switched off.
549 stereo samples at 48 kHz / 24-bit. A looped mode covers notes held beyond sixteen seconds.
