The only thing missing in Model 12 is automation of your tracks. You have to move faders in realtime for the final mix.

Tascam DP series portastudios though, have automation also.

I find portastudios great in the sense, not much you can do but record. So you get a lot of recording done.

It took years in DAW to not be distracted by everything you can do in picking sounds and stuff, tons of effect plugins to use etc.
