Two observations: I’m using MOTU Digital Performer as “other” DAW. For those interested, the setup involved making sure the plug is VST3 instantiated to ensure a published MIDI output. Use DP in Multi Record mode to see the MIDI ports.
Another observation: I am sight impaired, and the pale grey text on a black background is very hard for me to see, even with brightness and contrast adjusted.
