Best LA-2A compressor VST? – Effects Forum

You can dial in TrackComp’s LA-2A to be close to the UA version by using faster Attack/Release settings in TrackComp than the lines imply you should use. Years ago, I dialed in a TrackComp setting that uses 0.66ms attack time, 35ms release time, 39% brightness. Once you dial in the threshold and makeup, that gets very much in the ballpark of the UA LA-2A Silver. But you’d look at those settings and think “too fast.”

That said, I do prefer the simplicity of the skeumorphic GUI on the UAD version. TrackComp’s only weakness IMO is how fiddly it is to dial in and how uninspiring the GUI is.
