Asus GL502VT laptop not saving EFI boot options…

Wonder if anyone ran across this. I have an Asus GL502VT that doesn’t seem to want to save boot options. I can manually create boot entries and can boot this way, but they are lost when the machine is rebooted (including if changing some other nvram config) and the machine always comes back up in BIOS setup when it can’t figure out where to boot. Are these also stored in nvram or some flash on the board?
