It seems that the new generations of processors and video cards, which will be presented in the near future, will impress with very high frequencies.

AMD, is this even possible? GPU frequency of Radeon RX 7000 graphics cards may be close to 4 GHz

According to recent rumors, Radeon RX 7000 cards will be able to run at a core frequency of almost 4 GHz! For comparison, there is not yet a single serial 3D card that would operate at a frequency of 3 GHz out of the box. The current maximum, if we are talking about recommended values, is 2815 MHz for the Radeon RX 6500 XT.

One might think that 4 GHz is too incredible, but it’s worth remembering that the same Ryzen 9 7950X will operate at up to 5.7 GHz (some data says 5.8 GHz) versus 4.9 GHz for Ryzen 9 5950X. And if we talk about Intel, then there are rumors about the Raprot Lake processor (perhaps it will be the Core i9-13900KS) with a frequency of 6 GHz.

It is also worth remembering that the transition from RDNA to RDNA 2 brought in the first place a very significant increase in frequencies with improved energy efficiency, so AMD could well go further in the same way.

Separately, we can recall the images that got on the Web many months ago, which allegedly captured the Radeon RX 7900 XT with liquid CO. Perhaps it will be some kind of heavily overclocked version, and it is its GPU that will operate at such extreme frequencies.

In any case, the information should be treated with some skepticism, although its source – insider @9550pro – has a good reputation. He has repeatedly shared reliable data on AMD processors and video cards long before their release.
