I have a bunch of prototypes made with FlowStone which I use up to this day. Some of them are based on years of psychoacoustic research (and mixing of course). I never had the time to become an actual programmer, I only messed around with C++ a little bit. And so none of my prototypes turned into commercial products.
In hindsight this turned out to be a good thing though. It would have been a disaster. Even if they were made free it would have been a disaster because nobody would have used them…
