Afugazi STEREO SUB
STEREO SUB is a free plug-in that puts the sub of an 808 in stereo. Put it on the 808 or sub channel, not the master, and switch it on: the right side runs 90 degrees behind the left at every frequency, so the sub goes wide, and each side stays as loud as the dry signal. A stereo input is folded to mono first.
Summed to mono, nothing cancels: the output is about 3 dB quieter than the dry signal. The width is heard on headphones. Peaks can run a few dB higher than the dry signal, so leave headroom, and put any saturation before it.
