Not M4L, so maybe not what you’re after, but this is exactly the itch I scratched with Grid-909 (I’m the dev). Every lane knows what it is: the kick generates kick patterns, the hats generate hat patterns, pulled from 440 pattern sets across 22 genres. So you get grooves, not noise.
Each lane has its own generate button and you can lock the ones you like. It runs as VST3/AU, and you can drag the pattern out as MIDI straight into a Live clip.
