Aqua Node VirtualDX7
A free and open source Windows/Linux VST3 + Windows Standalone + Android six-operator FM synthesizer with two sound engines:
One provided out of the box, the “native” sound engine meticulously modelled after the DX7, that supports MTS-ESP microtuning and responds to knob automations in real time.
But also the option to load the Yamaha DX7 factory ROM to emulate the actual sound of the original hardware, provided you provide your own ROM if you have it. This bit-accurate VDX7 Yamaha DX7 emulation, originally for Linux made by chiaccona@gmail.com, an emulated HD6303 CPU driving emulated OPS/EGS sound chips, is optional and you lose no functionality if you don’t have it.
The native sound engine generally sounds a bit more crisp over alternative dx7 emulations that tend to sound a bit more mellow – a matter of taste.
Also added is an FX section not part of the original DX7.
