For what it’s worth, a good cheap trick is to play an explosion in reverse in some sampler you already have, setting the desired length for the buildup, and then, on a separate track, use the same sampler to paste in your desired explosion going forward where you want it to hit.
If you don’t want explosions, then any sound that has a big hit and a fade-out can be used the same way.
