Automatonism | SoundShockAudio

Automatonism is an open-source modular synthesizer environment built as a patch for Pure Data Vanilla. Instead of loading as a VST or Audio Unit in a DAW, it opens through Pure Data, where you connect modules to build instruments, effects, sequencers, and generative systems.

The current 3.1 release supplies an 81-module library and treats patching as both sound design and performance. Its dynamic preset management and parameter-mapping tools help turn a collection of modules into controllable, evolving setups rather than one-off experiments.

The module set covers conventional synthesis and more specialized building blocks, including drum voices, polyphonic instruments, sampling, looping, recording, filters, pitch shifting, sequencing, compression, EQ, reverb, tremolo, and audio freezing. That breadth makes it especially useful when a patch needs to move between rhythmic structure, texture, and autonomous variation.

Automatonism requires Pure Data Vanilla before opening its main.pd file. It is distributed under GPLv3-or-later, and the developer’s software page currently hosts the public Automatonism 3.1 download; the supplied snapshot’s VST-plugin category is retained only as SSA’s closest available taxonomy.
