Why a Stratocaster? – Guitars Forum

Where as previously I’d play one guitar for about an hour or so then swap guitars. Or more recently I’ll give a few hours or a full day devoted to one guitar. Now I find myself playing the Strat a few days in a row before swapping it out with another. It’s not the best strat I’ve ever owned and it’s not my dream strat due to the stack pups that don’t give me the in between sounds (positions 2 and 4) that I love the most and while it is very playable it’s not more playable than any other of my guitars. Yet still If I reach for it I can’t put it down.

Guitars are about the branding identity. Our guitar heroes play specific guitars and us we mentally link the things we love about the guitar to our favorite artists. I never play Hendrix Clapton, or Gilmour anymore even though those were the guys I thought about the most when I wanted to play the guitar. And yes I’ve played many songs by each of them professionally. Cover bands playing out live in packed bars.

What do you think is the main attraction to Strats. If you have one is it your favorite child or just a tool for the job. If you don’t would you want one or not?
