Diagnosing a JUCE plug-in GUI failure that does not crash the host

I recently ran into an awkward GUI bug in a large JUCE synthesizer running in Studio One.

The custom editor would open correctly the first time. I could navigate through the plug-in normally, close the editor window, and continue using the instrument. But when I tried to reopen the editor, Studio One sometimes displayed its generic parameter view—just a large grid of standard knobs—instead of my custom GUI.

Nothing crashed…
