Autocad importing duplicate step file

I’ve seen this is an old issue and was wondering if there was an actual fix for this by now. I’m having a problem where if I try to import multiple step files with different names, it will instead import the previous step file.

Import A.STEP –> Imports A.step

Import B.STEP –> Imports A.step

The only solution is to delete the previous 3D file and PURGE, or to explode the current 3D file and PURGE.

Why is Autocad importing the same file twice when they have completely different file names?
