Anti-aliasing aka font smoothing – LEDStrain Forum

I get symptoms (brain fog and fatigue) from reading text on screens but I can watch videos with no problem. I can also read subtitles on videos without problems.

All newer e-ink e-readers (and updated older ones) I have tried are unusable for me. I have a 2014 Kindle 7th generation that has never been updated that I am able to use without problems.

I have a Lenovo Ideapad 100S laptop running Windows 10 1607. I tried turning off Cleartype and unchecking “smooth edges of screen fonts” on systempropertiesperformance.exe But this has not helped my symptoms. I recall reading that certain applications and parts of the system can override this and use anti-aliasing anyway? And that apparently the program Iris can override those so that anti-aliasing is turned off universally?

Does anyone have any advice or ideas here? Thanks very much.
