uefi – Creating custom bootable Ubuntu 24.04.3 iso with xorriso does not appear in boot menu

I want to create a custom ubuntu installation, but first I am just attempting to create an iso that I can burn to a DVD with the base installation files.

I downloaded the ubuntu 24.04.3 iso and extracted the files to a folder “custom” on my pc.

Then I run the following commands:

cd custom

xorriso -as mkisofs \
-r -V "custom iso" \
-J -joliet-long \
-b boot/grub/i386-pc/eltorito.img \
-c boot.catalog \
-no-emul-boot \
-boot-load-size 4 \
-boot-info-table \
-eltorito-alt-boot \
-e EFI/boot/bootx64.efi \
-no-emul-boot \
-o /opt/custom.iso \
.

The iso is able to be run in a VM with BIOS, but when I burn to a DVD with brasero and transfer to my laptop, the disc does not show up in the boot menu.

Any advice?

Edit: I burned and recovered the laptop with the downloaded iso so it is not an issue with my burning software, DVD, or optical drive.
