Ambiente is a physically modeled room to place your physically modeled string players in. You can disable it, but it is important for acoustic realism and spacialisation of multiple players together in a 3-dimensional environment, which a traditional reverb processor isn’t going to provide. It replaces the traditional reverb that was originally in SWAM. Soliste sounds like it includes a standard convolution reverb.
