How many synths do you have (and use)? (in: Instruments)

I don’t think the argument about what a synth can do is always the best argument.

I’m more interested in how it does it.

On the recent Halogen thread a lot of people were talking about how “X brand” FM plugin can replicate the sounds of Halogen which is probably true but synths like F’Em or FM8 have much more unwieldy interfaces and are more suited for deeper sound design. Halogen is designed to give you an FM synth with its own particularities but without the fiddliness of the bigger examples…
