Finite element analysis and structural optimization of the explosion-proof box for coal mine robots

In the combustible gas space under the coal mine, the explosion-proof box of the coal mine robot is limited by the special use conditions and technical requirements. The strength is often improved by increasing the thickness of the box, which increases the total weight and limits the robot’s movement performance. This study conducts static, modal, and thermodynamic simulation analysis on explosion-proof boxes, identifies weak structural links, and proposes optimization solutions. Through topology optimization and parametric design, the optimized explosion-proof box achieves a 13.6% reduction in weight, an 11.4% decrease in maximum stress, and an increase in the first natural frequency to above the safety threshold, providing a theoretical basis for explosion-proof design in mining equipment.
