ffmpeg – HEVC NVENC codec produces interlaced output from non-interlaced input

I have a (legally obtained and copied) Blu-Ray rip in h264 mp4, which I’m trying to reduce in size.

I have tried to encode it in h265 both via FFmpeg and HandBrake, but the result is an interlaced video (the source is not interlaced), which is very annoying to watch.

What options should I specify to FFmpeg to prevent this?

I have so far used the default options for the hevc_nvenc codec in FFmpeg, and the equivalent codec in HandBrake.
