Two major issues with Waveforum (in: Tracktion)

Here’s what I am attempting to do. I record a cover song as a mono wave file. Very simple song. JJCale Clyde.
I find the approximate tempo. 95 BPM
I split into stems.
I line the 1st down beat up with measure 3, The next downbeats are very close but of course they wander. I need a tempo map.
I use the drum track as my source.
I try the Groove doctor. Following instructions and a video. It results in a tempo map that wanders from 44 BPM to 226 BPM. Tried a couple of other songs , same results…
