The problem I have with offset 13, a 4th, is that the 5th and octave are at least 5 columns away. And the 3rd of a triad is usually a couple columns away in the other direction. For example a major triad is 8 columns wide. On a 31edo guitar, the frets are packed in so close, those 8 frets are an easy reach. But 8 Linnstrument columns is a lot!
My personal favorite is row offset 10, and my second favorite is row offset 9. I’m curious what you mean by “jagged layout”?
