As for my sync problem, here are some details:
1. I’m using an older iMac.
2. I’m using note grid to trigger my Motif XS, which is also my sound card.
2. When I switch to direct monitoring, the sync between Bitwig’s metronome and the notes being played is much closer.

I bet if I do a comparison using my PC rig, which is based on a modern computer and sound card, I’ll get better sync results. It just won’t be using the Motif, which has a certain mojo of its own. (FWIW, the Motif plays much better with Macs in my experience.)
