visual studio code – VSCode “Failed to delete used the Recycle Bin” and Issue renaming files

Since it is the first time I ask a question here, I prefer to take precautions before asking it:

  1. I’ve done some research, unfortunately (and surprisingly) I can’t find any subject talking about this issue.
  2. I ended up here because I’ve been told to ask my question here. Trying to ask a question on VSCode’s Git redirect to StackOverflow, and they themselves redirected me here. So, I’m sorry if it is not the place.

When I try to delete a folder from VSCode directly, it sometimes asks me to execute the action as an administrator, then show an error “Failed to delete used the Recycle Bin”. Only thing that I can do is to remove it permanently. I even tried to set all permissions of the folder to “total control” for the system and users, but that changed nothing.

Kind of same issue happens when I try to rename a file. VSCode is just stuck in a loading loop and never updates, it eventually crashes. I’m forced to close it and re-open it again to see the modification.

Note that all these files are stored in local, on my laptop’s disk. There is no server, SSH request or something like that in the equation. Just a regular use. Also:

  • No opened program is currently using the project.
  • The project isn’t Git-ed.
  • It is not opened in the files explorer either (I prefer to mention it as in the video, it is open but on another folder). I even tried with the files explorer completely closed.
  • I wondered if it wasn’t something in my system. But apparently not as I changed my laptop recently, and I still have the same problem on new projects on my new computer.
  • Some developer friends around me said they are or already have encountered the same issue, so it doesn’t sound to impact just me.

Does someone has any idea about this issue?
