Omnisphere 3 Wishlist – Page 10 – Instruments Forum
I have found, over the years, that I don’t really like “monolithic” synths; I find them a real drag on creativity. I find I no longer even glance at the “specs” of a synth anymore. …I just want it to have character and personality, and, ironically or not, I find that the broader and more “capable” a synth is, the less room it has for character and personality.
I want to see them break Omnisphere up into 6-12 synths with a specific “vibe,” much like their Sonic Extensions (Expansions? Whatever), but standalone, more or less, with a LIMITED set of samples and effects and the like for each, well-suited to the task. Ideally, they would allow “crossover,” if you own more than one, so you can pull in some material from one to use in another if you really want to, but doing so should involve some kind of process to load the additional material *later*: the point of these is to feel lighter, load faster, and drive specific types of creativity.
It won’t happen of course. Nobody wants things *taken away* from them. But IMO, these would ultimately be more popular, more fun, and ultimately, more *creative*, so it’s a shame. So I’ll just go eat dirt.
