Opening a file from Visual Studio Code Terminal into Visual Studio Code

I want to open a file in visual studio code as mentioned in this question; How to open a file from the integrated terminal in Visual Studio Code?.

Although CTRL clicking on the file in terminal just opens a search, Terminal > run active file in active terminal doesn’t know which file to open. In the case where one is in bash and they use the ls command and I want to open a specific file which is listed.

Terminal > Open Last file link doesn’t ask me for any information as to which file to open ?
