OpenWrt 23.05.0 released [LWN.net]

I really like how mature OpenWrt has become. I put the release onto an 11 year old access point (Netgear WNDAP660), and it’s now fully secure and supports standards that didn’t exist when it launched (e.g. WPA3).

It also gives me the option of upgrading its 802.11n (“wifi4”) radio cards by replacing them with 802.11ax (“wifi6” or even 6GHz “wifi6e”) cards, without having to go to the trouble of compiling anything myself – just install the necessary official package with the relevant drivers.
