Not at all, Kontakt is an extremely powerful, deep sampler. You can do all kinds of crazy synthesis stuff with it, if you want to go there. But you can also use it like a simple sampler from the 80s, of course. It’s probably true that most people are using Kontakt as an advanced rompler, though.

CR8‘s selling point is that it’s a fresh design, easy to use, yet still quite flexible, and they don’t have to care about backwards compability and so on.
