Bistable Solenoid waveform – Electrical Engineering Stack Exchange
The exact waveform depends on the details of your solenoid.
The first pulse must be long enough to latch the solenoid. This time will be given in the data sheet. It must also be sufficient voltage and current to latch it, again see the data sheet.
Once the solenoid is latched, you can either leave the drive there, or take it away, it doesn’t matter for the latching operation of the solenoid, this is the ‘don’t care’ part of the sketch. It might matter for power consumption, or any short-cuts you might want to take with the design of the driver.
Once the 1 second wait has gone by, apply the opposite polarity pulse.
Rinse and repeat.
